Griffόn Dance Company was founded in 2000 by Ioanna Portolou. Performances of the company have been presented in various theatres and institutions in Greece, such as: Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens Epidaurus Festival, Megaron - The Athens Concert Hall, Kalamata International Dance Festival and abroad.

From 2000 the company has been receiving steady subsidies from the Ministry of Culture and commissions from Greek cultural institutions, thus allowing it to premiere a new work each year.

The last performances, Amazing (Athens Festival, 2022), Veritas (Plyfa space, 2024) and Shifting Time (Motȇl griffon, 2023) mark the beginning of a new artistic era for the company.
